Overview

Distinguished Concerts International New York (DCINY) is seeking a dynamic and talented individual to join the team in the role of full-time PRODUCTION COORDINATOR. DCINY is an independent classical music production company who works with ensembles and organizations from across the globe to present full-scale choral masterworks, chamber music and instrumental performances in prominent venues and on well-known stages, primarily Carnegie Hall and Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts. Candidates should have prior production experience working in an arts environment and deep knowledge and experience in classical music. Applicants should have excellent interpersonal and communication skills, flexible problem-solving skills, management experience and an ability to work well under pressure. This position is integral to the successful preparation and presentation of DCINY concerts.

This individual will be responsible for:

  • Creation of rehearsal matrix for residency and concert weekends
  • Coordinating the set up and strike of rehearsal venues.  
  • Preparing/contracting rehearsals, instrument/equipment rental and ongoing communications with rehearsal and performance venues.
  • Overseeing the management of rehearsal requirements: instrumentation, rehearsal schedules, and set up plans
  • Assisting guest conductors and artists, including discussion of stage set up, schedule and other artistic needs
  • Working with company leadership to assess budgets and requirements for special projects, future planning for the series and implementing new production materials or processes as required
  • On site management and leadership for scheduled rehearsals, events and performances at major venues. This includes managing all talent flow.
  • Recruitment for the part-time production and support team; determining crew sizes, production schedules, and processing payroll to perform this job successfully.
  • Oversight of music library, ordering/rentals of needed music, and copyright and licensing approvals for programmed music
  • Attend all DCINY rehearsals as well as performances, as needed
  • This position also provides ongoing collaboration with different teams at DCINY. This person must have the ability to work independently and collaboratively, from conception to completion, and must be able to work under pressure at times to handle a wide variety of activities as needed. Collegiality and enthusiasm for a team-oriented environment are essential.

The individual selected should be:

  • Bachelor’s degree with advanced study or equivalent professional experience.
  • A minimum of 3-5 years of work in the arts production or related field.
  • Excellent written and oral communication and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to meet deadlines and manage multiple projects simultaneously and efficiently
  • Highly self-motivated and self-starter
  • Strong leadership skills
  • Flexible and able to see the big picture; Ability to find solutions and implement them quickly
  • Able to maintain a high standard of professionalism while representing DCINY at rehearsal and performance venues.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with staff, professional colleagues and vendors
  • Confident to address and work with large groups effectively; familiarity of the requirements of a large choir
  • Fluency in other languages a plus
  • Familiarity with Salesforce and/or other CRM software programs a plus
